Having lived in Bendigo nearly all his life, Ian attended Maple St Primary School, Golden Square Secondary College and Bendigo Senior High. He then went on to attain a Bachelor of Science in Optometry at the University of Melbourne, graduating at the end of 1989. He returned to the same university in 2008 to complete a year long Graduate Diploma in Ocular Therapeutics. This qualification allows Ian to prescribe many useful antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral eye drops and ointments.
Ian is a General Optometrist who sees himself as an “optical problem solver” and enjoys tackling patient issues that may have previously have been put in the “too hard” basket. He has a special interest in diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease and is passionate about using the latest technology to help his patients maintain the best vision possible. Ian also co-manages Laser Vision Correction and Cataract surgery patients. Previously quite shortsighted, Ian underwent LASIK vision correction surgery himself in 2001. He is a strong advocate for surgical refractive correction.
Ian enjoys staying fit by cycling when he can, walking the family’s 2 dogs and trying to keep up with his wife and 3 young children.
Ian works primarily in our Bendigo, Maryborough and Castlemaine practices.
